Who is The Beauty Lounge? Melissa is a hair stylist and makeup artist and a graduate of Regency Beauty Institute in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Her interest in the beauty industry began at a very young age, and she has been styling hair for as long as she can remember. She continues her education by taking hair cutting and coloring classes, attending industry trade shows, and staying up to date on trends. Whether you are looking for classic sophistication or if you have a flair for the dramatic, Melissa can make it happen. She loves all textures, whether it's wavy, curly, coily, or somewhere in between, and wants all her guests to love their hair everyday, not just when they leave the salon.
Before leaving her chair you will be equipped with the tools and knowledge to achieve the look you desire. In addition to her behind the chair work, she works with several local photographers on photo shoots during her spare time. She has been published in various media outlets.
How did you get started in the wedding industry? I began working in the wedding industry in 2010 with Smart and Chic Bride (now Creative Beauty Agency).
What do you enjoy most about working with your clients? I love being a part of such a special moment in their lives and seeing the look on their faces when they feel like the most beautiful version of themselves.
Where do you find your inspiration? I find inspiration all around me, from street styles, to social media, to art.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and who was it from? The best career advice I received was from Nick Arrojo. He said, "There is lots of room at the top, there is no room at the bottom."
Which artists, makers, or designers influenced you? In the age of social media, we are exposed to artists from all over the world. I love following hairstylists and makeup artists. Recently I have been fascinated with many European hair stylists, for their creativity and precision. A couple of my favorite makeup artists are Sam Fine and Renny Vasquez for the way they effortlessly enhance a woman's beauty.
What do you hope to provide for your clients? I want our clients to feel comfortable both with their artist and in our space. I want us to laugh, bond and ultimately leave feeling amazing.
